Dear WSAPD Members, First, on a personal note, it is an honor to represent the Washington State Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as President for the upcoming year. We have built an incredibly abmitious, thoughtful, and dedicated community and I'm confident we can find unity in the coming year to educate, support, and empower each other. Thank you for placing your trust in me. Please do reach out if there is anything you think we could do better. Now, down to business! |

Out Annual Meeting was held on October 4th at Cedarbrook Lodge and featured an excellent lecture by Cara Riley on Safe and Reliable Pediatric Sedation. For our members who perform sedation with nitrous alone, this course met the 5 year requirement. For members providing moderate sedation with a Pediatric Sedation Endorsement, this course satisfies half of your 3 year requirement of 14 hours of pediatric specific sedation CE. |

At the 2025 Annual Business Meeting, concerns regarding our organizational reserves were raised. A motion was put forth to reduce membership dues which initiated an important discussion regarding how to best allocate and manage our funds. We recognize the need for clear organizational guidelines regarding managment of reserves and an assessment of member priorities. We are currently conducting a review and revision of our bylaws and we will be evaluating our organizational and financial framework - incorporating member input, organizational goals, and member volunteer avaliability. |

| We know that advocacy for children's oral health starts right in your neighborhood but big decisions are made in Olympia that impact care for all our patients. Please plan to help make our dental voice heard at the Capital in January. Be sure to clear your calendar and round up your pediatric dental friends to make a difference for the kids of Washington State! |
